Complementing the Gray

Dear Beauty Queen: I am 61 with a shock of gray hair right in front. Gray hair tends to wash out your complexion. What color blush and lipstick look good with gray hair? I have heard of many different options such as peaches, roses or reds.

Beauty Queen: I’ll admit it: I had to consult a pro on this one, so I asked New York City makeup and eyebrow guru Ramy Gafni for his opinion. Here’s what he has to say:

“As a rule, cool colors look great with silver hair (which is itself a cool tone). So opt for pink or rosy blush as opposed to peachy warm tones.
That said, you must also take your skin tone and eye color into account when selecting colors. If your eyes are blue or green, definitely choose cool shades for your cheeks and eyes – such as gray, silver, white shadows and liner.
